Looking back at my early predictions

This is my 200th post on this wrestling blog! It started six years ago, with the first post on April 1, a predictions column for Wrestlemania 28. I’ve progressed through many styles of article, several co-contributors, seen a huge turnover in the WWE roster and the rise of NXT and the WWE Network. And along the way, I’ve made probably hundreds of predictions. So, as a special post for the landmark, I thought I’d take a look back at some of the predictions I made in my first year, and see how right – or very, very wrong – I was. Who will win the World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank Ladder Match?

This is the second of my columns focusing on the Money In The Bank matches this Sunday. The first was my assessment of each competitor in the All-Stars match’s chance of winning. This will follow the same structure, but will focus on the World Heavyweight Championship MitB match. Here we go! Continue reading Who will win the World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank Ladder Match?

Night Of Champions 2012 Predictions

I’m back! After a short, unscheduled hiatus (for which I apologise) I have returned to the world of wrestling blogging! First things first, best wishes to Jerry Lawler. Here’s hoping he recovers soon and returns to the commentary desk before long! I know there’s a lot of people out there who don’t like the commentary team right now on Raw, but no one wishes this kind of thing to happen to anybody. Also a lot of credit goes to Michael Cole, Bret Hart, John Cena, CM Punk and everyone else who went out and performed on Raw for the way they handled the situation.

But in true WWE style, the show must go on, and their next show is the Night of Champions PPV in just under 23 hours time! There are 7 matches announced, plus a pre-show battle royal. So, without further ado, here we go! Continue reading Night Of Champions 2012 Predictions

Money In The Bank Predictions

It’s nearly here, the Money In The Bank pay-per-view is tomorrow night and it’s one I’m really looking forward to – partially because it’s one I’m watching, and partially because I’ve always been a fan of ladder matches. I ran down who I thought was likely to win a week or two ago, and I will evaluate the 3 additions to the World Title MitB match later in my predictions. There are only 4 announced matches on the card, which makes me hopeful that all 4 will get a good amount of time, even with the expected addition of a squash or divas match. Plebeian Point of View: Who Will Win The Money In The Bank Matches?

July 15th. WWE Money In The Bank. The day everything suddenly becomes so unpredictable.

Just look at last year’s event. 2 days before the show, Smackdown’s MitB winner Daniel Bryan lost to fellow match participant Cody Rhodes on Smackdown. And the WWE Title match was an enthralling battle from the moment Punk sat down on Raw with a microphone. Granted Alberto was practically guaranteed to win, but there was still a question over whether or not he would cash in on the same night.

This year, for the first time, the matches will be interpromotional – superstars from both brands will compete in each match, and the briefcase will represent a title instead of a brand. Another change for this year is that only former WWE Champions can take part in the WWE Championship Money In The Bank match. I would expect more men to be added to the WWE Title MitB match (perhaps Rey Mysterio or The Miz), while more qualifying matches for the World Title MitB match have been announced for next week’s shows. We already know 9 of the men who will compete though, so here are my thoughts on the chances of each man in the hunt for a briefcase, starting with the World Title MitB. No Way Out 2012 Predictions

Welcome to my predictions for the first No Way Out pay per view since 2009. The selling point of the show is Cena v Big Show, which will both take place inside a steel cage and culminate in someone being fired. Without further ado, let’s get into the point of the article! Continue reading No Way Out 2012 Predictions

Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions

The first PPV after Wrestlemania is always exciting for one reason or another, but this year is even more special since we witness the return of Brock Lesnar! I know I can’t be the only one excited. Let’s do this! Continue reading Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions
